"Muses IV: Memories of a House"

This year, “Muses IV: Memories of a House” decided to take a different spin on things. But before we delve into the details, let us take a few steps back.

When it comes to having their own place, each individual will have their own unique touch which indicates to anyone that the house is theirs. From the major changes like adding a room to the minor ones like hanging a painting, the touch is personal. The fact is, each house has its own story, and the Vestige Group decided to take advantage of this fact. They took it up on themselves to bring these stories to life in the form of “Muses IV: Memories of a House.”

The Vestige Group began this tradition several years ago by encouraging playwrights in Austin  to write scenes that were to be performed in local homes. This year the theme of ‘family’ was incorporated into the mix. So instead of writing 10 different stories for “Muses IV: Memories of a House”, the team decided to write one story, with 10 different “moments.” As simple as this sounds, this was no small task.

The patriarch of the family in “Muses IV: Memories of a House” is Winston, the handyman of the family. His wife is Denise is a psychiatrist, who is ironically an alcoholic. The couple has two children Nora and Shawn, both teenagers.

What makes “Muses IV: Memories of a House” interesting is that each character is played by different actors/actresses in each scene, which spans nearly three decades apart.

Muses IV: Memories of a House” is the art of eight playwrights, and we will not spill any more details. The play runs until September 12. Tickets cost $15-$25. Send a mail to thevestigegroup@gmail.com  for reservations.
