Highlights from "Recycling for Churches"

By Chris Searles / Jun 16, 2011

On Tuesday, June 7th, Austin's Interfaith Environmental Network (IEN) presented City of Austin Solid Waste Services Senior Planner, Woody Raine, in a symposium about recycling services and our City's vision for zero waste by 2040.

Here's some highlights:

I. Congregations can subscribe to Recycling Services, today. Learn more here: www.cityofaustin.org/sws/commercial_garbage.htm, or call 311 for service.

II. The City offers free waste reduction consulting for commercial entities: www.cityofaustin.org/sws/commercial_wrap.htm

III. On the way to Zero Waste, the City begins its "Universal Recycling Ordinance," Fall 2012. Commercial entities will be affected first.

IV. Austin has only one styrofoam recycler (here), it's not the City.

Learn more by reading the rest of this blog on IEN's website, or by visiting the City of Austin Solid Waste Services Department (512) 494-9400.
