TreeFolks Partners with City Hall for Earth Day

By Chris Searles / Apr 21, 2011

Austin's TreeFolks.org has planted over 165,000 trees since its grassroots beginnings in 1989. Today City Council will honor not only TreeFolks, but Austin's legacy of tree stewardship.

The City plans to read a proclamation at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, "Thanking Austin's Tree Champions" as well as hold a reception on the Mayor's Balcony from 5:15 to 7:15, in support of TreeFolks.

TreeFolks will be "partying" on the balcony and celebrating the many partnerships that have helped it succeed thus far, thanking its recently-retired executive director Scott Harris for 11+ years of leadership, and welcoming its new executive director April Rose.
