There is a lot going on this weekend and it is hard to make choices. Here is a free, yes FREE, event that is family friendly. It's hard to say who will enjoy this event more the adults or the children. With approximately 25 yards available for the viewing both Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. , at least a few should fit in between family events. Here are some of the highlights:
The Cathedral of Junk, 4422 Lareina Drive: If for some reason you have missed seeing the Cathedral, now is the time. There has been a lot about it in the news lately. Of all options, this is probably the number one must see.
Smut Putt Heaven 509 Gate Tree Lane: This entire yard is filled with bottle cap snakes, mannequin heads, doll heads (Caution: this might be a little upsetting to doll adoring little girls...or not), ironing boards and appropriately placed crutches. Scott has spent a lot of time making his yard AHHHHsome.
(My dear friend) Sharon Smith's house, 1204 Choquette: Sharon is a ceramic artist and teacher. She often works with found objects with a particular interest in hub caps which adorn her fence. Check out the bird cages minus the birds hanging from her tree. Sharon is as interesting as her yard and she will be right there during the tour.
Speaking of fences, 1815 Dywer is mi casa, while it certainly is not the most interesting of the yards, the kids and the kid in you might enjoy the sea scape fence in the back yard. Come by and say hi!
