Local venture capital firm Austin Ventures joined the three founders of MySpace to buy a California-based online social gaming platform called MindJolt, reports the Austin Business Journal.

Austin Ventures invested $20 million in the deal to buy San Francisco-based MindJolt with MySpace founders Chris DeWolfe, Colin Digiaro and Aber Whitcomb.

As part of the deal, which was apparently not done through actual MySpace messages, Austin Ventures partners Chris Pacitti and Tom Ball will join the company’s board.

MindJolt claims more than 20 million monthly active users on the Web. More than 1,000 game developers use the company’s application.

Here’s the ABJ story for more details.
