It's been a great 2010 for the Austin band Spoon. New album, European tour, and now up next for Spoon is a part of the official kickoff for SXSW music showcase headlining at Stubb's on Wednesday, March 17. In the past this spot has been for bands such as R.E.M. Now it's the Austin's band turn to headline.
The band Spoon consists of musicians Britt Daniel, Jim Eno, Rob Pope and Eric Harvey. While Spoon music is classified as indie rock, in the past they've just called their sound rock 'n' roll. For 17 years though they've been doing something right in the indie scene to keep fans coming.
Recently in Austin this January for their album release at Waterloo Records, Spoon will be playing new songs from their seventh studio album, "Transference," during SXSW.
Spoon actually just returned from a European tour, so it is coming back to the States and their hometown to promote their new album and possibly deliver some old favs to the SXSW crowd. In other recent big news, Spoon played on "Late Night with David Letterman" last Thursday night, March 4.
Spoon hits the stage at 12:05 a.m. at Stubb's, but along with Spoon on March 17, Stubb's is featuring The Walkmen, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, and Visqueen. For more information and to add Spoon to your schedule, check out the SXSW Web site.
