Monday, July 19 is the last day to vote for the Austin Chronicle’s Best of 2010, and guess what? The Austin Post fits in so many categories, plus it takes just a few minutes to vote online!
Click here to vote. In the “Media” category, you could put Austin Post as Best Entertainment Website, Best News Website, Best Local Blog and/or Best Local Blogger (choose any of our fabulous writers).
I’ll give you my top 10 reasons you should vote for us...
1. The Austin Post is a non-profit. In Austin, that gets you automatic points.
2. The Austin Post is truly local. There aren’t other branches in other cities.
3. Our contributors represent unmatched diversity, so you hear what’s going on in your city from a variety of voices. Here’s a smattering of the occupations of Austin Post contributors: retired journalists, working journalists, attorneys, bakers, drummers, students, politicians, therapists, business owners, health professionals, PR professionals, tech junkies, professors, realtors and more.
4. In a matter of months, we’ve grown from giving you about five new articles per day to often more than 20. In other words, my eyes really hurt right now, but it's because I really love you.
5. Our writers get to say exactly what they want. As a non-profit and a community newspaper, we don’t have to worry pissing off advertisers or saying something offensive. Anyone can go to the site, register, submit an article and unless it’s a novel or blatant spam, I’ll publish it. You could go from a reader to a contributor in about five minutes. Consider us the ultimate local sounding board.
6. We have parties with open bars. I could just stop there....
7. When you’re bored at the office, we are virtually there for you.
8. Where else are you going to find content from the Chair of the Texas Libertarian Party AND The Texas Observer on the same page?
9. It will make me happy.
10. Because then you can say you voted for something. In this city, that's important.
