April 1: Anthony Bourdain Will Make Us Drool at The Paramount
Oh, Anthony Bourdain, you’re so hard to hate, and I’ve tried! You’re cocky, cool and always complaining about your awesome job, very possibly the best job in the world. A traveling food writer, author of the best selling food memoir, Kitchen Confidential? Star of your own show, “No Reservations?” You get paid to fly all over the world, eating exotic, delicious, expensive food? And yet you still yearn for your days as a strung-out fry cook in Jersey? You’re impossible, Anthony Bourdain. But I can’t resist you, and neither can what is probably going to be a gaggle of women (and men, and writers, and foodies of all shapes and colors) at the Paramount Theater in Austin on April 1st.
Who knows what he’ll actually talk about. Who really cares. Whatever Anthony Bourdain does, he does it ridiculously well, and whether he’s ranting about food, cooking, his French restaurant, his television show, his books, or his amazing collection of vintage sleeveless rock T-shirts, it’ll be entertaining.
Tickets to see Anthony Bourdain range from $25 to $75, doors open at 7, and the show starts at 8 p.m. Parking is easy at The Paramount, especially at night when the meters are free. And if you’re just some poor guy being dragged by your girlfriend to see Anthony Bourdain, jealous as all get-out, then you can at least put on a brave face, order a glass of wine and enjoy The Paramount, Austin’s historic and beautiful theater, where musicians, comedians, politicians, directors of SXSW films, and other stars have shone on its stage for nearly a hundred years.
So buy your tickets and bring your schoolgirl crushes, things to autograph, and your appetite for food lore to see Anthony Bourdain on April 1st.
