Gran Sonido Music Group Is Here
Listen up, Austin: Gran Sonido Music Group is here. GSMC is an Austin-based collective that helps local and regional artist, music venues, booking agents and talent buyers connect. In other words, they're part of that wonderful fabric that makes us the Live Music Capital of the World, and a part that most of Austin seldom sees.
GSMC also provides artists with management (somebody has to get those gigs, right?) and helps with show and event production and promotion.
GSMG’s website, which you can check out here, says the group's focus is to create a community for everyone in the music and entertainment industry to network and help find different outlets to promote their work.
In order to get the ball rolling on that, GSMG has announced they will be hosting a showcase on Friday, Nov. 25 at Frank. A variety of regional latin music talents are scheduled to perform including Houston’s CHangoMan, who will be making a long awaited trip to Austin in support of their latest release "Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven," and Austin bands Son de Rey and Este Vato. If Son de Rey sounds familiar, it's because they talked to the Post a while ago about SX Tex Mex. If the same goes for Este Vato it's because in late September they answered our ten questions.
GSMG is truly starting out with a bang: CHangoMan was recently voted Best Latin band by the Houston Press, Son de Rey’s long list of accolades includes recent performances at Pachanga Latino Music Festival and San Antonio’s Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair and Este Vato has performed with the likes of legendary Mexican rock group Molotov and released "The Morningside" EP in September of this year. In other words, this is an event you need to check out.
The music will start with CHangoMan at 10 p.m., continue with Son de Rey at 11 p.m. and close with Este Vato at midnight. No need for tickets: $6 cover at the door will do the trick. Also, make sure you hook up with Gran Sonido Music Group on Facebook here and follow them on Twitter here. It's always great to have new projects that are all about keeping our art and music scene vibrant so go give GSMG a great welcome.
