On Saturday September 19, Nick Taylor, the 20-year-old famous wakeskate pro visited Texas Ski Ranch to promote his new movie Aquafrolics. This is Nike 6.0's groundbreaking first wakeskate team movie with Nick Taylor, Ben Horan, Matt Manzari, and Andrew Pastura.

Wakeskating is like skateboarding on the water. Unlike a wakeboard, the feet are not secured to the board by a boot. The top surface is covered with a griptape to give traction and prevent the wakeskater from slipping of the board. This makes it a very challenging sport. In the world of wakeskating, Nick Taylor is as good as it gets. This native Floridian from Anna Maria Island has won numerous competitions which have landed him on the cover of Wakeboarding Magazine. To name but a few of his career high lights: 2009 Byerly Toe Jam stop #2 1st place and 2008 Wakeboarding Magazine Award for Wakeskater of the Year.  After a couple of hours signing autographs, he did a few runs on the skateboard ramp and then took to the water with his wakeskate.

The impressive "acid drop" will get your attention. This is when the wakeskater jumps off the dock and positions the wakeskate under his feet with one hand while holding the rope handle in the other. With his skills it's no wonder Oakley and Nike 6.0 are two of his major sponsors. The smaller children had a chance to sit with Nick Taylor and get tips on how to do tricks and improve their style. Not many places other than Texas Ski Ranch create such a great environment for the highly skilled and beginner wakeskater to hang out and practice.
