You might notice a change on our home page. We've changed from "Latest Austin News" to "Latest Austin Posts." In addition, we've added an Opinion section under the City category in our toolbar.
The Austin Post editorial staff discussed how much we love getting thoughtful, provocative columns from our dedicated writers. But, we also want to be clear with our readers in separating news and opinion. With the explosion of partisan media, we think it's important to draw a line while still providing an engaging forum for expression and conversation.
To our writers: keep sending your great stuff! If your article reads more like a column, we'll simply categorize it as Opinion. This will apply more to articles of political nature. (If you submit a restaurant review, it will still go under Eat & Shop; a concert review will still go under Live Music.)
We are also working on a section just for current and future writers with AP style help, formatting guidelines, story ideas, writer meet-ups and other information to show how much we appreciate your contributions to the Austin Post.
To our readers: We hope you like our changes. In the future, we plan to add more sections and content to reflect the unique city we live in. We truly are an adventurous newspaper built around you, so we want your feedback!
