Stars Exchange Food Donations for Tickets
There’s a good feeling you get when you donate to a good cause, and the Texas Stars are rewarding those who do so with a pretty nice thank you gift.
On Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 19 and 20, the Cedar Park Center will be the drop-off point for the HEB Food Drive, benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank. The drive starts at 10:00 a.m. both days, and goes until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Non-perishable food items will be collected at the main entrance of the Stars’ home ice.
It’s a partnered effort between the Texas Stars Foundation, the Stars team, HEB and BOB FM, who will be broadcasting until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday live from the arena.
The best part is, the team is giving away tickets to Thursday’s home game against the San Antonio Rampage for every eight items donated. There’s no limit on how many items fans can donate, so cleaning out your pantry will definitely pay off once you get those tickets in your hands.
“From wildfire disaster relief to their day-to-day efforts, the Capital Area Food Bank provides an invaluable service,” said Texas Stars AVP of Marketing Michael Delay. “The Texas Stars Foundation, as well as the entire Texas Stars organization, is proud to assist the food bank in their mission of ending hunger in central Texas.”
Further incentives for unloading food stuffs include a prize for the fan with the most donated, as well as entry in more prize drawings for all donors. The Stars, the CPC and BOB FM are all pitching in with more freebies up for grabs. Free youth tickets for the AMA ArenaCross event in January will also be given out to all who participate.
Players Francis Wathier and Mathieu Tousignant are rumored to be on hand today, with more players likely to show up tomorrow.
Last year, the Stars and HEB combined to collect 1,421 pounds of non-perishable food, good for over 1,130 meals that were given to Austin citizens and other Central Texans in need.
Texas is home for Thursday’s 7:30 p.m. game with San Antonio and plays the Peoria Rivermen Saturday at 7:00 p.m. before heading off on a four-game road trip. For tickets and more information, visit TexasStarsHockey.com.
The Stars are 1-2 in their first three games and currently sit at the bottom of the AHL Western Conference’s West Division.
