One Source Network, a IT network company based in Austin, is the ninth fastest growing American company, according to Inc. magazine's list of the top 500. The companyworks with Fortune 1000 companies to set up and run networks within their offices.

Nine other Austin companies, most in the tech industry, made the top 500.

• Software Advice, which researches software for businesses and provides advice and consultation
• Cloud 8 Sixteen, an SEO and web consulting firm that also has web design and pay-per-click marketing services
• Kinnser Software, a healthcare software company
• Vintage IT Services, small and midsize business IT services
• Q2ebanking, a software company for the financial industry
• Medigap360, a service that allows for comparisons in shopping for Medicare supplement providers
• Charfen Institute, real estate education service
• SPIbelt, developed a belt for runners and cyclists to carry their keys and other loose items
• CLEAResult Consulting, which helps businesses become more energy efficient.

  
Keep in mind, fastest growing doesn't mean biggest by any means. A company that went from two employees to four effectively doubled its staff.

Tarun Nimmagadda, co-founder of Mutual Mobile and a University of Texas grad, advises entrepreneurs not to focus so much on novelty or being the first to try out a concept, just try to be the best at it. Plenty of these growing businesses are in crowded fields like IT consulting, network infrastructure, SEO Marketing, etc. But they're doing something right.
