GameSalad Brings the Bacon, But Might Change the Home
UPDATE: GameSalad PR contacted me to inform that they are opening a San Francisco office in addition to their Austin office, where normal business will ensue.
According to TechCrunch, Austin-based casual games platform developer GameSalad has procured $61 million in ventures from SteamBoat ventures.
So yay for the local guys, right? Sure, just don't be so quick on that whole "local" thing.
TechCrunch says they "hear" the company is moving its newly deep pockets to San Francisco.
GameSalad, previously known as Gendai Games created a platform where people can make popular games for Apple's popular iOS (for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) without knowing the difficult coding process that goes along with it.
The platform was used by the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to create their Hobo With A Shotgun game in anticipation for the movie of the same name.
I've reached out to the company to get official word about the possible move to San Francisco. Stay tuned.
